Michael Anthony Williams,(born april 28 1989) also know as "Kid Infamous" is a up coming Durham North Carolina rapper with a hunger and something to prove. Growing up he always had a passion for the music but never actually saw himself making music. He remembers times that people wrote him off and that only discouraged him to start writing music full force. Years later (without haters in his ears) now grown and wanting to strive for something greater, he links up with his friend and partner in crime Daniel Watkins or "Dan The Don", and together they make things happen. The movement that Kid Infamous is affiliated with is called "Hot Damn Jams" and consist of kid infamous, Dan the don, Zack Florence "wild card",brittan "b-suppa" and Daniel presley, "D-press". Before they each try to make solo mixtapes, they felt getting their name out there was a vital part of obtaining success, so many projects were relesed via bandcamp.com. "Nothing but green, money, and weed","The rock tape" and "The rock tape 2" were all great compilations that kid Infamous was apart of ,but he had yet to show his individual creativity that would soon set him apart from any other local mixtape artist.
"What is a dream?" he poses the question at the beginning of his debut mixtape "Vivid dreams and dark nightmares" ;Spewing out the definition over a ominous piano ,and what it means to him. The contents in the mixtape resemble vivid dreams and dark nightmares as the songs inside are so unique in thier own way and play on the many preferences that people may have. During the survey we conducted, almost every person had a diffrent favorite song and there were none that said they couldn't listen to the whole mixtape tape straight through. In the process of making the tape Kid Infamous wanted to give it the feel of being diffrent and made sure that every thing from the beats, lyrics, and features were all in line. The first half of the tape consisted of mellow, laid back, or up lifting beats hence the "vivid dreams portion"; and the second half falling into the dark nightmares section with more agressive and dark songs. Transitioning between the two halves worked well by including interludes with correlating poetry preformed by Richard laredo Cisco or "Poetic Rift", and then ending the nightmare with a transition into a celebration for finnaly ending the nightmare or waking up from it.
What you will find here is a story of a man who has desires, visions, regret, fun, irresponsibility, hate, sincerrness, dreams, drive, recklessness, enemies, pride, more enimies, honor, knowlage and celebrations. The ride hits close to an hour but it's one that you will want to take again right after it stops. My first play through i was excited to hear what was in store and it blew my mind. The creativity was there in the form of well placed skits and emproviseing a hook on an otherwize complex beat. Months sense it's release and to this day i still can't pick out a favorite song in fear of discrediting all the others i like.I can say though, that the tape starts and finnishes just as strong.
What is a dream: An interesting intro to a complex mixtape with a perfect backdrop B-
Everything:A almost pop sounding upbeat song with a high pitch sample of a singer in the background. Dispite sounding odd, the opening couldn't get no better and creativity immediately flourishes A+ What i do: Catchy song about the story of the Jams Gang meeting up and the expression of his deepest passion.B-
Hold you down: Miami Vice sounding beat, mello and easy to groove to. It tells the story of finding redemption with a broken hearted woman. A+
Get high-The name is self explanitory but with a great beat, lyrics, and feat from "Dan the Don" its a non skip.A+
Drink a whole bottle 2:Smooth party song and fun to listen to in general. A
Rather be alone:An opening skit sets the tone for this song. its real, its relevant, and we all feel this way at some point in our life. B
Keep it real:Like a companion to the last song, it deals with breakups in a less harsher tone but gets the message across on a better beat. A+
Daydreaming:The last song on the vivid dreams side, also a stand out song and melody with the help of "meme" a Chapell Hill based singer. A+
Dark Nightmares Interlude: poetry splitting the concepts of the tape. Due to the fact that i wrote the poetry, i can't rate it. It's performed over a sinister slow beat with my voice being distorted to add to the atmosphere.
Hard times:Creative song about grinding while having a conversation with his conscience A
Hydro: Easily a club bangger with up beat tone and heavy base, chopped n screwd chorus and comes with the help of "paco jiggins" And "wild card". A+
The Alter- Sinnister scripture and the rappid flow of "Psycho Cellis" A
King of the city:Quite a few songs on the dark nightmares could be club banggers but this could easily be the city's anthem. A+
Who you think your dealing with?:Just a swagged out song posing a question to the haters with a biggie sample thrown in. A
The Gang:Possibly one of the best beats on the tape with lyrics to match A+
Moment of truth:This song is nothing but the truth with a hot beat, fast lyrics, strory telling, and a martain luther king speech to top it off.A+
Just a dream: Another inturlude that i wrote an preformed. Smooth piano in the backgrond calms down the speed of the tape and gets it ready for the finale.
Make a Toast: A strong finnish for a strong tape feat "Psyco Cellis and "Dan The Don" A+
