written in darkness

*a question of inner being

Written in darkness

I know I’m an optimistic person

so why is my writing so pessimistic?

My poems are  like reflections of myself

that I can’t see.

Their part of a darker side,

so is it wrong to embrace that?

Is there any difference from being a dark person and coming to terms

with apparent dark emotions

this world inflicts on us?

Vivid dreams and Dark Nightmares review

Michael Anthony Williams,(born april 28 1989) also know as "Kid Infamous" is a up coming Durham North Carolina rapper with a hunger and something to prove. Growing up he always had a passion for the music but never actually saw himself making music. He remembers times that people wrote him off and that only discouraged him to start writing music full force. Years later (without haters in his ears) now grown and wanting to strive for something greater, he links up with his friend and partner in crime Daniel Watkins or "Dan The Don", and together they make things happen. The movement that Kid Infamous is affiliated with is called "Hot Damn Jams" and consist of kid infamous, Dan the don, Zack Florence "wild card",brittan "b-suppa" and Daniel presley, "D-press". Before they each try to make solo mixtapes, they felt getting their name out there was a vital part of obtaining success, so many projects were relesed via bandcamp.com. "Nothing but green, money, and weed","The rock tape" and "The rock tape 2" were all great compilations that kid Infamous was apart of ,but he had yet to show his individual creativity that would soon set him apart from any other local mixtape artist.

"What is a dream?" he poses the question at the beginning of his debut mixtape "Vivid dreams and dark nightmares" ;Spewing out the definition over a ominous piano ,and what it means to him. The contents in the mixtape resemble vivid dreams and dark nightmares as the songs inside are so unique in thier own way and play on the many preferences that people may have. During the survey we conducted, almost every person had a diffrent favorite song and there were none that said they couldn't listen to the whole mixtape tape straight through. In the process of making the tape Kid Infamous wanted to give it the feel of being diffrent and made sure that every thing from the beats, lyrics, and features were all in line. The first half of the tape consisted of mellow, laid back, or up lifting beats hence the "vivid dreams portion"; and the second half falling into the dark nightmares section with more agressive and dark songs. Transitioning between the two halves worked well by including interludes with correlating poetry preformed by Richard laredo Cisco or "Poetic Rift", and then ending the nightmare with a transition into a celebration for finnaly ending the nightmare or waking up from it.

What you will find here is a story of a man who has desires, visions, regret, fun, irresponsibility, hate, sincerrness, dreams, drive, recklessness, enemies, pride, more enimies, honor, knowlage and celebrations. The ride hits close to an hour but it's one that you will want to take again right after it stops. My first play through i was excited to hear what was in store and it blew my mind. The creativity was there in the form of well placed skits and emproviseing a hook on an otherwize complex beat. Months sense it's release and to this day i still can't pick out a favorite song in fear of discrediting all the others i like.I can say though, that the tape starts and finnishes just as strong.

What is a dream: An interesting intro to a complex mixtape with a perfect backdrop B-
Everything:A almost pop sounding upbeat song with a high pitch sample of a singer in the background. Dispite sounding odd, the opening couldn't get no better and creativity immediately flourishes A+
What i do: Catchy song about the story of the Jams Gang meeting up and the expression of his deepest passion.B-
Hold you down: Miami Vice sounding beat, mello and easy to groove to. It tells the story of finding redemption with a broken hearted woman. A+
Get high-The name is self explanitory but with a great beat, lyrics, and feat from "Dan the Don" its a non skip.A+
Drink a whole bottle 2:Smooth party song and fun to listen to in general. A
Rather be alone:An opening skit sets the tone for this song. its real, its relevant, and we all feel this way at some point in our life. B
Keep it real:Like a companion to the last song, it deals with breakups in a less harsher tone but gets the message across on a better beat. A+
Daydreaming:The last song on the vivid dreams side, also a stand out song and melody with the help of "meme" a Chapell Hill based singer. A+
Dark Nightmares Interlude: poetry splitting the concepts of the tape. Due to the fact that i wrote the poetry, i can't rate it. It's performed over a sinister slow beat with my voice being distorted to add to the atmosphere.
Hard times:Creative song about grinding while having a conversation with his conscience A
Hydro: Easily a club bangger with up beat tone and heavy base, chopped n screwd chorus and comes with the help of "paco jiggins" And "wild card". A+
The Alter- Sinnister scripture and the rappid flow of "Psycho Cellis" A
King of the city:Quite a few songs on the dark nightmares could be club banggers but this could easily be the city's anthem. A+
Who you think your dealing with?:Just a swagged out song posing a question to the haters with a biggie sample thrown in. A
The Gang:Possibly one of the best beats on the tape with lyrics to match A+
Moment of truth:This song is nothing but the truth with a hot beat, fast lyrics, strory telling, and a martain luther king speech to top it off.A+
Just a dream: Another inturlude that i wrote an preformed. Smooth piano in the backgrond calms down the speed of the tape and gets it ready for the finale.
Make a Toast: A strong finnish for a strong tape feat "Psyco Cellis and "Dan The Don" A+

Look the the whole Vivid dreams and dark nightmares tape on Kidinfamous.Bandcamp.com, free of charge.
Verdict:A: For showing incredible skills to be diverse, creative, and still deliver that hip hop that we love.

Thats My Boy Movie Review

THAT'S MY BOY, the new Adam Sandler comedy was released on june 15th 2012. The big names of this comedy are of the ranks of Adam sandler (as Donny Berger) the drunken father,Andy Samberg as (Todd peterson/Hon solo) the successful son, and Leighton Meester as(Jamie) the son's hot headed fiancee.

The movie starts off with an adolescent Donny Berger and his friends in middle school acting their age as they're just hitting puberty. When his 22 year old teacher seductively walks down the hall and starts drinking from the water fountain, he notices that he's no loner into girls but into women.Donny asks his teacher out and starts the fuse that ends him in detention and eventually ending him up as a father. As a result of his teacher showing no remorse in court, she is sentenced to 30 years in prison and Donny obtained custody of the child. The school boy scandal led to Donny becoming a celebrity from that day in 1984 but as of 2012 hes long partied that money away.

As a man Donny is a reck who lost contact with his son, dose little more than hang at the strip club with his friends and apparently has a hobby of not paying the IRS. Over the years hes accumulated a dept of 43,000 to the IRS and without any money to pay, he hatches a plan to ask for the help of his wealthy son who has since changed his name and created a fictional backstory for his own life. A bit of the movie takes place at Todd's bosses house whom where jamie and todd are staying.Donny shows up out the blue and the hijinks go on from there.Having his wedding and promotion on the line, Todd is less then enthusiastic about seeing Donny. Its hilarious to hear about the type of father that donny was and his son's actions reflect his attitude toward donny's parenting when changing his name from Hon Solo to Todd Peterson and claiming that both his parents were killed in a explosion. Back and forth they have a battle based on maturity as Donny tries to make up for the terrible father he's been, but some other characters dont make it easy as Donny soon has to make a choice between having his son back or keeping himself out of jail.I would say that the movie over all pushes to be on the more raunchy side of comedy and a few scenes are not for the faint of heart. While it's not particularly graphic, the subject matter is still a little shocking. There are a few twist and turns and i didnt feel as if it was some movie that i've already watched many times. If you want to see a funny movie then don't pass over this one but if immature jokes ,drunk dry humping clothes, and horny elderly people aren't your thing then you may be missing out. (B-)

Michael's Seafood Restaurant & Catering

My fiancee and I was reluctant to try this place after reading a few mediocre reviews, but in passing while on vaction we decided to see what all the fuss was about.  when we walked in we fell right into its atmosphere. The food tasted great and the quick and painless service made me want to tip.(though i usually dont)My fiancee's love for hush puppies only grew here and we had a ball with the scallops wrapped in bacon. This may very well be our new spot when we go out of town.Maybe it will also be where i propose :)

Drug epidemic Bath Salts and Zombies

So say you woke up one day and bath salt was on the grocery list. What you should keep in mind is that this may not be you father’s cleaning product. Bath salt is the official slang for the mysterious narcotics that contain you in a zombie like mind state….well maybe not literally but as many reports suggest, you can’t help but to think evil thoughts. The controversy started when a Miami local attacked an unconscious homeless man, eating almost half of the man’s face. The homeless man was taken to the hospital and survived but leaving serious injuries. Now I know what you’re thinking, how does a man dig into another man’s face like a mcdouble? Well courtesy of this new drug, it’s said that people possess about 2 to 3 times their normal body strength. Origins of the substance as well as what exactly it’s made up of are still a mystery. At the moment bath salt is on a lawless rampage as you can find it any were from department stores to greenery shops (to use for plant food) but it’s pretty hard to ban a substance when the contents of it is always rapidly changing.
The most common substance in bath salt is MDPV, (or mephedrone and methylenedioxypyrovalerone) which cause delirium, hallucinations, rapid heart rates, paranoia, and suicidal thoughts. Dickie sanders, a victum of the drug, experienced 3 days of terrifying hallucinations before slitting his own thought. When the suicide attempt proved unsuccessful he then left the watch of his father and shot himself in the next room. Many actions of those involved in these situations are described as “uncharacteristic” when under the influence which is why many take is as far as to say the people were zombiefied. One man was said to been caught trying to chew the paint off a cop car which would either make him a copycat criminal or the drug really makes people act how the consensus would want to believe. Now looking into fictional stories like Resident Evil doesn’t seem completely absurd. After all, what would stop an organization from making a bigger and better form of it and finding ways of mass distribution? Though that’s a pretty far out situation drugs are really no more than biological weapons. Instances when you hear about a man under the influence fist fighting an officer because he “thought he was a devil”, are almost comical but the threat of this is no joke.
Louisiana takes lead of the epidemic with 48% of all the calls being reported or 165 cases. At least 25 other states have had exposure reports also. Bath salt has definitely caused an up roar though still in its stages of infancy, but why would anyone be willing to inject something with such a potent nature? Convenience maybe? Could it be that it’s familiar to current drugs users because you can inject, snort, or smoke it? Maybe it complements meth and cocaine well? Whatever it is, it’s addictive and wildly popular. It’s as if all the junkies meant in the street and decided to make it the next big fad. Alternate street names for the drug are “white lightning“, “Hurricane Charlie”, “Ivory wave” and “cloud 9″ with the latter being one of the more harder versions. You would think that society has learned its lesson by now but we seem to be a glutton for punishment. No matter how “evil, terrible, or terrifying” the experience is, they want to do it over and over again. Until the drug can be detected in humans and we pin point exactly what it is, there’s no telling how long it will take to make it illegal but for now cases in court are forced to receive judgments like disorderly conduct, basically a time out in the street corner. Eventually this thing may blow over just as crack did which is now grandpa’s drug…Well that is until they find the next big thing to sniff and cause a zombie apocalypse.
What are your thoughts on Bath salt and the crazy people on it? Is it really a problem? Are people purposely acting out on the substance just to gain attention?
Plan on trying it? Let us know and leave a comment.

Consoles War | Cloned Controls

Many know that this generation in the console wars brought gaming into a very different playing field. Even with the rise and success of internet gaming, the industry was seriously lacking innovation. This all changed when in (2006) Nintendo debuted the Nintendo Wii home console adding to the success of the wildly successful Nintendo DS handheld. Wii flew off shelves due to the fact it was offering a unique experience; catering to both casual and hardcore gamers. With Xbox 360 coming out a year before Wii and Playstation 3 coming out around the same time, the competition felt late to the party launching without motion controls. Nintendo, (the company that once was taken for granted) debuted a break through system and ultimately guiding the path of the gaming industry, leading the march in innovation.
Looking back at the mistakes of the past, Microsoft and Sony have an unspoken vow to never underestimate the competitors and began to look at what different types of audiences want. The hardcore market was there but the casual gaming market was a gold mine that Nintendo started hogging the share of and everybody wanted a piece of it. Sony’s answer to this dilemma with a “in your face move” was to update the PS3 with a peripheral almost identical to the wiimote’s wand like features giving the PS3 optional motion controls as well as a upper hand with graphical dominance. Now games once only possible on Wii were being ported to the PS3. Microsoft followed suit with a totally hands free motion device for Xbox 360 ending this generation with all consoles on the same page.
This generation has had an abnormally long life cycle lasting about 7 years insted of the normal 5 year cycle, and as of this month, it’s been about a year sence Nintendo revealed the Wii’s successor titled “WII U“, a console shrouded in mystery. Nintendo is notorious for holding off on information for their products but the main focus so far on the system is the tablet like controller. So far they’ve displayed many attributes of the controller as the 6.2 inches of resistive touch screen display with 576p glazed on for resolution. The regular buttons that come with a standard controller are still there along with dual analog sticks, a front faceing camera for video chat, gyro sensors and many more things that’s yet to be announced. It seems Nintendo was yet again at the forefront of innovation until the 2012 E3 press conference when Microsoft unvieled the “smart glass”.
The smart glass is more so a softwere for the 360 and compatible with any and every tablet or smart phone laying around the house, breaking the restraints of buying a system and using just one type tablet controller talored specifically for the system. As Microsoft began the conference, they explained you would be able do things as watch a movie on your tablet then resume it on your TV. Now thats all fine and dandy, but then they get into how its also used as a second screen used to expand upon your gaming experiences. Jaw drops* such a blatent rip off of an ideal before the original ideal even was able to hit the streets. The race to not be left behind got a kick start and was already was underway. In this market it behooves developers to come with their own ideals so that people have reasons to buy and support different consoles.
Eventually the gaming industry may become a race to copy the next big thing and experiences may go back to being almost identical on every platform save for a few exclusive games. One of the many problems that pledged the Ps3 and 360 this generation was the almost duplicated game roster on each system, which was a good reason to have only owned one of them. With the gaming industry already taking a financial loss cloned experiences can be detrimental to gaming’s survival.Never the less at this phaze its really too eairly to say how exactly theses developments will affect the industry but fingers crossed that these next round of consoles all have a different type of uniqueness that nintendo started last generation. Keep your eyes open for gaming events as well as press conferences.
Wii U is scheduled for a Q4 2012 release date.
